Communicable Diseases – MRSA in the Community



It is the latest news BUZZ! MRSA – the “superbug” is causing schools and health clubs and gyms to close all over the country as officials struggle to figure out what to do to prevent the spread of this serious and highly infectious, antibiotic resistant staphylococcus bacterium.

Your task is to learn what you can about MRSA and then create a short (minimum 5 slides)Power Point presentation about your findings. Your research should answer the following questions:

What is MRSA?
What causes it?
How does it spread?
What are the dangers of MRSA in the community?
How can it be treated and/or prevented?

Requirements:
  • Your Presentation must include at least 5 slides.
  • Your presentation must answer all the questions listed above, and contain factually acurate information.
  • Your presentation must be graphically attractive and easy to read.
  • Your presentation must include at least one illustration, photograph or other image.
  • Information on your slides must be spelled correctly, and be grammatically correct.
Extra Credit (25 points):

Find one news article about MRSA and write a 3-5 paragraph summary of the article. Your article should be turned in when you make your presentation in class.
